The Future

Numerous attachments have been designed and made to be able to make rough terrain forklifts as efficient as possible. Winches, booms and rotating fork carriages allow the forklift to position materials in a more precise manner. The booms or articulating booms are available in 2 different extendible arms and can reach up and over structures in order to place loads in the center of upper floors or on interior roof slope settings. With extra safety features becoming more prevalent, some improvements have been made. Like for example, load-reach management devices can restrict the forklift's reach automatically, based on the load being handled as opposed to depending on the operator. Pressure sensors are utilized in order to know the load weight. This information is sent to a small electronic memory device that had all the load-reach limitations pre-programmed into it.



When the load is being placed into position, the memory would compare the boom's extension and the boom's angle with the safety limits. There is an important lock-up device or a warning system that prevents the operator from over-reaching and potentially causing the boom to fail or the forklift to tip over.
