Kinds of Man Lifts
Designed specifically to vertically raise workers to higher places, scissor lifts are common in the construction business to help transport or lift personnel form one place to another. Man lifts are power-driven and offer special handholds and steps or platforms to provide safe transport. The type of construction work being carried out will decide precisely which kind of man lift would be used in a project.
Electrically Insulated Man Lifts
Based on Man and Material Lift Engineering, the man lift most preferred for working near electrocution hazards are electrically insulated man lifts. The electrically insulated man lifts provide protection to personnel against accidental electrocution. These machines are in compliance with the American National Standards Institute A92.2 Category C, 46kV Rated. These electrically insulated man lifts offer fiberglass insulated booms, fiber optic control cables and are operated on nonconductive hydraulic hoses which serve to reduce ground fault.
Scissor Lifts
The scissor lift is a unique machinery capable of transporting employees vertically to hard-to-reach places. The scissor lift derived its name because of the scissor type of design of the folding supports that serve to lower and raise the platform. To be able to hoist the lift, each and every one of the folding supports is opened so as to extend the platform to higher heights.
The scissor lift would either be powered manually or hydraulically. The hydraulic powered system does not rely on power, however allows the scissor lifts to descend with just a release of hydraulic pressure. Since the potential of mechanical malfunctions preventing the platform from abruptly descending to the ground is eliminated, at the end of the day, hydraulic systems make safer scissor lifts.
Capacity
The man lift has a huge range of weight capacities, with certain man lifts capable of holding many individuals, while some models could only hold a single individual. Platform lifts and scissor lifts are more conducive for transporting a lot of people, as boom lifts have less space located in their bucket.
