How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, since the convenience of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks which could have otherwise needed using the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machine make it the best option for performing jobs from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
The equipment needs to be positioned next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located in the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, units which are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord must next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
