The company later gained worldwide recognition as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. Case had established themselves in the construction machine industry by the year 1912. They became a producer of road building machinery including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery company through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top manufacturer of light-sized to medium-sized construction equipment.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the top brands of construction and agricultural equipment in the world.
