Change an LPG Cylinder
There are different types of sources that could power forklifts. They could run from gasoline, LP gas or liquid propane, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many applications. There are several facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machinery must be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment like heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is securely closed. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Keep in mind that it will turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never utilize a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
