Different Types of Aerial Lift

Aerial lifts are a particular kind of heavy machinery that allows workers to be lifted into the air. These equipment could be utilized to perform maintenance and repairs in areas which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Like most tools, there are different types of aerial lifts which can be utilized to complete various tasks. For the utmost safety, each and every kind of different type of machinery requires right training and specific qualifications prior to operating it.

Scissor Lifts

Genie lifts are a different name for scissor lifts. These equipment are the most basic type of aerial lift available. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up using pneumatic power and are mostly utilized indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When completely compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to big carts. Generally, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anybody can utilize these devices, workers need to be licensed as operators.

Boom Lifts

The boom lift is a much more complex kind of aerial lift equipment compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift usually has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box located in the bucket which enables the operator to hoist and lower the bucket. As the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side as well. The boom lift looks like a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is utilized in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run compared to scissor lifts, hence, operators have to be licensed separately for these kinds of lifts.
