Lift trucks are important pieces of equipment utilized commonly in business, especially in distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. A forklift truck is made of hundreds of components, including the carriage, the cab, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Forklifts normally have different kinds of attachments also. Lift Truck Engine - the forklift truck is designed with a power source at the back of the equipment. Various types of lift trucks have various types of engine that require varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine can have as its power source any of the following: LP gas, CNG gas, diesel or gasoline. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.



Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck components is the truck frame. This forms the machine's core. All other components of a forklift are connected to the base, like the overhead guard, counterweight, mast, wheels and axles. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.



Counterweight Lift Truck Components - While lifting heavy loads, the counterweight enables the machine to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes connected to the rear of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery provides balance and can work as part of the counterweight.



The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the equipment. Several lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and some have closed cabs. There are really many components situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab has such essential components like for instance the switches, levers, operator controls, steering wheel, seats and pedals. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
